EU-Canada Summit, Prague, 6 May 2009
The annual EU-Canada Summit took place in Prague, on 6 May 2009. EU and Canadian Leaders discussed a wide range of issues, including the EU-Canada economic partnership in the context of the current economic developments, peace and security issues, energy, climate change and the environment.
Joint EU-Canada Scoping Exercise, 5 March 2009 At their 17 October 2008 Summit, EU and Canadian Leaders agreed to work together to "define the scope of a deepened economic agreement and to establish the critical points for its successful conclusion". The findings the scoping exercise were announced on 5 March 2009 with a view to a subsequent conclusion of a comprehensive economic agreement between EU and Canada .

On 4 March 2009 in Brussels the EU High Representative Javier Solana met with the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lawrence Cannon. The topics of discussion included the transatlantic relations, EU-Canada relations, NATO, Afghanistan, Iran, the Middle East. Both sides stressed the importance and thepositive impetus in the EU-Canada relations.
