The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia's application for membership in the EU was submitted on 26 February 2004.
The Commission delivered a positive opinion on 9 November 2005.
The European Council of 15/16 December 2005 decided that the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia was a candidate country.
The Council adopted on 18 February 2008 the revised Accession Partnership with the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
The Council has not yet decided to launch accession negotiations.
