Customs Cooperation
Customs cooperation encompasses the work carried out by customs authorities in order to ensure the functioning of the Customs Union, a foundation of the European Union and an essential element in the functioning of the single market (art 33 TFEU). It includes as well the work carried out by customs authorities in order to contribute to safeguarding an area of freedom, security and justice for the Union's citizens (art 87 TFEU).
