The flag took part in all events in space and reminded Frank De Winne of the values of the European Union. Referring to the current situation and the difficulties Europeans are facing, he declared they were capable of finding solutions.
Herman Van Rompuy commented on the signification of the EU flag: "Thissmall flag is a symbol carrying a message throughout the world. It is the symbol of a European Union united in diversity, transcending the differences of languages and cultures, and accepting these differences. This is what counts the most. This is the immense value of Europe."
