You can already now consult the EU Official Journal on the EUR-Lex website free of charge. The texts are available in all the official languages of the EU, for an unlimited period of time.

What is new, however, is that the electronic edition will replace the paper version in terms of authenticity and legal effect. Until now, only the paper edition had legal effect.

The Council took the formal decision on the electronic publication of the Official Journal on 7 March 2013.
