Ecofin: Preparing the European Council meeting

On 22 October, the Ecofin Council prepared the European Council meeting on 23 October as regards measures to stabilise the situation on financial markets, restore confidence and foster economic growth and employment.

Ministers exchanged views on bank recapitalisation and funding - a part of a comprehensive strategy to be defined by the European Council and by heads of state and government of the euro area.

Ecofin Chairman, Polish Finance Minister Jan Vincent-Rostowski, will present the results of the meeting to the European Council.
