Digital books are more and more in evidence: on buses, in trains and on planes. You may now take the treaties with you everywhere on any device handling the EPUB format.
The e-books will make life much easier for the many users of these legal reference works – judges, lawyers, law students, EU officials, civil servants in the member states – who will be able to carry them around on their laptops, notebooks, tablets, e-readers or smartphones. The EPUB format offers a great advantage: the text adapts automatically to the size of the screen, with the page reformatting itself instantaneously when the typeface or type size is changed.
E-books moreover offer a multitude of tools which make work easier: highlighting in several colours, insertion of notes and bookmarks, text searches, optimal navigation between the table of contents and the text and footnotes.
The published texts are an e-book with the consolidated version of the Treaty on European Union and the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, accompanied by the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, and an e-book with the consolidated version of the Euratom Treaty.
These two e-books are free and available in the 23 official languages of the European Union. They can be downloaded from the Council's online bookshop and from EU Bookshop, the EU's interinstitutional online bookshop.
