Debating euro area governance

It's a first: at this year's Open Day at the European Council's and the Council's Justus Lipsius building on Saturday 12 May, there will be an exceptional opportunity to take part in a public debate entitled "Governance of the euro area". Visitors who'd like to participate are kindly required to register in advance.

Starting at 4.30 p.m., this special event will feature Olaf Prüssmann, Head of Unit responsible for economic policy, including Euro Group, in Directorate-General G (Economic Affairs and Competitiveness) at the General Secretariat of the Council, as the speaker. His introductory talk will cover the following questions:

-  What are the benefits of the euro?
-  What are the origins of the crisis?
-  Which are the measures that have been taken to tackle the crisis?

Following Mr Prüssmann's introduction, the public will have the opportunity to ask questions.

The talk will be given in English, and interpretation will be available into and from French, German and Dutch.

Please note that seats are limited in number. Registrations will therefore be  considered on "a first-come, first-served basis".
