REGISTER OF PERSONAL DATA PROCESSING OPERATIONS
Controllers at the General Secretariat of the Council must notify the Data Protection Officer of processing operations upon personal data which they are or will be performing. The DPO keeps a register of such operations, which anybody may consult (Article 26 of Regulation (EC) No 45/2001).
The Register is based on the notifications submitted by controllers and is therefore available only in the language of the notification, generally English or French. It contains basic information about each processing operation, for example its purposes, the name of the controller, the type of data involved and what categories of persons are concerned by the processing operation in question. The search function of the Register will help you to identify those processing operations that may concern you.
In addition, the DPO submits processing operations which are likely to present specific risks to the rights and freedoms of data subjects to the European Data Protection Supervisor. The Supervisor carries out a prior check and keeps a register of such operations (Article 27 of the above Regulation). In the "Observations" column of the Council Register you will find an indication of processing operations submitted for prior checking.
